CRIMINAL prosecutions could face serious delays because of a dispute at the Chief State Solicitor's office

CRIMINAL prosecutions could face serious delays because of a dispute at the Chief State Solicitor's office. Some 60 legal and technical staff have voted to take industrial action because two vacancies have not been filled.

About 40 solicitors and 20 technical staff are involved. The divisional executive of their union, IMPACT, is due to consider granting members approval for industrial action on Wednesday. This is most likely to be a work to rule.
