Paris - Mr Trevor Rees-Jones, the survivor of the crash in which Princess Diana was killed, has filed a suit against the Paris Ritz hotel and the firm which hired out the car which crashed, a legal source said yesterday.

The source said the complaint was for "endangering the lives of others".

The former bodyguard was an employee of the Ritz at the time of the high-speed crash in August 1997, when Princess Diana, her companion, Dodi Fayed, and their driver, Henri Paul, were killed. Mr Rees-Jones suffered severe injuries and has since resigned from the al-Fayed-owned hotel.
