LONDON - The Isle of Wight took a step towards devolution yesterday with a decision to conduct a poll among residents to test public opinion. Members of the island council's policy committee voted overwhelmingly for the motion which will lead to a sample of the island's 125,000 residents being asked if they want some form of devolution.
