A woman is being questioned about the death of her husband in Derry yesterday evening.

The Donegal man (49), whose body was discovered at his home in Derry, had been married just a month ago. Police are questioning his wife (42) over the death, which is being treated as suspicious.

Police were alerted by an ambulance crew that attended the house in Elaghmore Park, Galliagh, at 6.30 p.m. It's believed they were told the man had fallen and hit his head.

Father Shane Bradley, of St Joseph's Parish, Galliagh, where the couple were married, said the community was in shock.

He said: "Death is always a shock but for a man just married, looking forward to a new life and to be found dead on the floor like that, is even more of a shock.

"They were even planning a wee holiday next week, but not now," he added.
