Defendant in farm murder for trial

DUBLIN man charged with the murder of a 73 year old farmer and cattle dealer, Daniel Fanning, at his home in Rosegreen, Cashel, Co Tipperary, last February, has been returned for trial for the next sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

Francis Palmer, Foxborough Road, Lucan, appeared before Judge Michael Pattwell at Clonmel District Court yesterday.

Another Dublin man, also charged with Mr Fanning's murder, appeared at the same court when he was remanded in custody to appear at Clonmel District Court on September 24th.

He is Mr Ivor Sweetman (46), of Bawnlea Green, Jobstown, Tallaght. Bail had been set for him in the High Court, the district court was told.

Both men are pleading not guilty.
