COLOMBO - The death toll for government forces in a major Tamil Tiger guerrilla attack in Sri Lanka rose to 142 while at least 171 rebels were also killed, the Sri Lankan defence ministry said yesterday.
Security forces recovered the bodies of 142 soldiers killed in Thursday's pre dawn assaults against the Paranthan and Kilinochchi army camps.
