The death took place in Donegal yesterday of Councillor James Larkin (59), a former senator and member of Letterkenny Urban District Council for more than 30 years. Prominent in Independent Fianna Fail, he had held served on the local vocational education committee, the board of Letterkenny Regional Technical College and the National Library Committee.

He was chairman of Letter kenny UDC five times and won five senior county championship medals with St Eunan's GAA Club in the town.
