The actor and broadcaster Breandán Ó Dúill has died in Dublin, aged 70.

The actor and broadcaster Breandán Ó Dúill has died in Dublin, aged 70.

Mr Ó Dúill was best known for his role as the publican Mickey Mac in RTÉ's long-running television series The Riordans. He also featured in the station's radio drama, Harbour Hotel.

He played Ben Dollard in the centenary recording of James Joyce's Ulysses (1982) and his films included Three Wishes for Jamie (1987).

A respected traditional singer, Mr Ó Dúill toured with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, and presented RTÉ Radio One's Céilí House for 15 years until 1993.

His funeral Mass will be in Rathmines church today at 11am followed by burial in Mount Jerome Cemetery.
