Cairo - An Egyptian factory owner chopped off his daughter's head and paraded it through his neighbourhood after he found out that she had gone on holiday with her boyfriend, security sources said yesterday. On Tuesday night the father, aged 44, confronted his daughter, aged 25, at her boyfriend's family home after they returned from a week-long trip to the Mediterranean resort of Arish. The couple had wanted to marry but the woman's father did not approve, the sources added.

When the woman told her father she planned to marry her boyfriend, the father stabbed her four times and then beheaded her. The father, shouting "I have avenged my honour", then offered the head to her boyfriend.
