A former personal assistant of U2 bassist Adam Clayton will stand trial next year on 184 counts relating to the alleged embezzlement of millions of euro from him between 2005 and 2008.

Carol Hawkins (48), Leinster Road, Rathmines, was charged in the District Court in January of 184 counts under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud Offences) Act 2001.

In the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday, Judge Martin Nolan set the trial for April 2012.
