Dart users are being warned to expect serious delays this evening as an unofficial industrial dispute by drivers has forced the cancellation of a number of trains.

Iarnród Éireann says around a quarter of trains are out of service because of the strike by 21 NBRU and Siptu members.

The company said the action arises from a disagreement between two groups of Dart drivers on a rostering issue.

An arbitration meeting has been scheduled for Thursday in a effort to find a resolution to the dispute.

It is not known if the disruptions will extend beyond this evening.
