A Progressive Democrat candidate in Kildare South has accused the Minister for the Environment, Mr Howlin, and Kildare County Council of abandoning the environment. In a statement, Senator John Dardis said that "the environment in Kildare was being raped by Dublin's insatiable need for water which is wasted, and for a dumping ground for its rubbish".
