Havana - Cubans voted in one-party general elections yesterday as the government appealed for a massive turnout to support national unity and single-party socialism.

The polls, held just 10 days before a landmark visit by the Pope, will elect 601 deputies to the National Assembly and 1,192 representatives to provincial assemblies.
