Man arrested over assault on baby in Galway

Young child brought to UHG with injuries before being transferred to Temple Street

A man has been arrested over the alleged assault of a young baby in Galway.

The child, believed to be only a few weeks old, was brought to University Hospital Galway with severe injuries resulting from a suspected assault.

The baby girl was later transferred to Temple Street children’s hospital in Dublin for further treatment.

Gardaí said a man aged in his 20s was arrested in Galway on Monday, March 30th, in connection with the incident. They said he was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
