A report of a Supreme Court judgment last week entitled "Rape charge should not have been brought" stated that the accused had been charged with unlawful carnal knowledge under the 1935 Criminal Law Amendment Act.

He had been charged with attempted unlawful carnal knowledge, for which a charge of rape was substituted when the relevant section of this Act was found unconstitutional.
