A woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a fatal house fire in Drogheda, Co Louth last year.

Nicola Kavanagh (27) from Rathmullen Park, Drogheda appeared before Drogheda District Court, charged with the unlawful killing of Eva Berrill.

Ms Berrill (70) died in the burns unit at St James’s Hospital in Dublin on November 20th.

The accused also faces a charge of arson at a house Chord Road, Drogheda belonging to Oliver and Eva Berrill on August 16th, 2014.

There was no application for bail and Ms Kavanagh was remanded in custody to appear again before Drogheda District Court next Friday.
