A crewman working on the Cork to Swansea ferry is recovering in hospital today after being crushed by a hydraulic door.

The man was aboard the MV Julia when the incident happened last night. Milford Haven Coast Guard was alerted and the man was airlifted to North Devon District hospital.

He remains stable in hospital with a suspected broken pelvis.

A spokesman for Fastnet Line, the operator of the ferry, said an internal investigation into the incident was underway.

The Marine Accident Investigation Branch in the UK has also been informed of the incident.
