The Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland has called on the Minister for Justice to bring the responsibility for maintenance and provision of courthouses under her authority and to improve the "Dickensian" condition of many courthouses throughout the State.
The association's annual conference in Arklow heard a litany of complaints from local authority members about the condition of courthouses.
