A woman prison officer accused of harbouring a fugitive prisoner has been suspended from duty, the High Court in Belfast heard yesterday.

Ms Valerie Gamble (29), whose address was given as Maghaberry Prison, Lisburn, Co Antrim, where she once worked and is now a remand prisoner, applied for bail on a charge of aiding and abetting a sentenced prisoner, Aaron Rocket, to unlawfully remain at large.

The court was told she and Rocket formed a relationship while he was a prisoner at Maghaberry.

Lord Justice Nicholson refused bail.
