A man sent to Wheatfield Prison for driving without tax or insurance became a heroin addict there, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court was told yesterday.

John Coleman (22), of Greenfort Gardens, Dublin, pleaded guilty to burglary of the home of Mrs Elizabeth Molloy in Leixlip on June 4th, 1995; attempted robbery of a jewellers on January 11th, 1995; and robbery of £5,000 worth of jewellery from a Bray shop on May 24th, 1995. Judge Cyril Kelly imposed three concurrent terms of 3 3/4 years.
