Bristol - A magistrate will rule today whether the rock star Gary Glitter is to face a crown court trial on charges alleging computer pornography and sexual assaults on two girls aged between eight and 10.

Glitter (54), appeared before North Avon magistrates at Yate, near Bristol, yesterday on four charges of buggery and five of indecent assault dating back to 1975. He also faces 51 charges of taking indecent photographs of children and 50 alternative charges of possessing photographs.
