The High Court yesterday confirmed the appointment of an examiner, Mr David Hughes, to the Waterford registered shipping company Eurocontainer Shipping plc (ECS).

Last week Mr Justice Murphy appointed Mr Hughes as interim examiner on condition that he receive Pounds 25,000 from a potential Norwegian investor to meet expenses.

The judge said that if the Norwegian investor, Bryggen Finans, was prepared to put up the sum in cash it would keep matters alive for a further few weeks.

Yesterday the court was told that the money had been lodged with the interim examiner.

Mr Justice Murphy said that the examiner should return to the court to make his report on the first day of the next law term, June 5th.
