A six-year-old girl has been awarded more than €10,000 after she cut her chin at a playground.

She was five years old when she was at the playground at Athlone Leisure Centre on May 2nd last year, and tried to climb up a slide after she had just slid down. The girl’s hand slipped and she received a cut under her chin. No sutures were required when she attended Tullamore General Hospital and steri-strips were put in place.

Mullingar Circuit Court heard that a consultant plastic surgeon who examined the child said she was healing well and that the scar was pale.
