A couple in their 30s were injured following an aggravated burglary at their home in south Belfast earlier today, police said.

A number of men armed with iron bars forced their way into the house at Finnis Close in the Taughmonagh area at around 4am.

The intruders then attacked the man and the woman, who are both aged 34 years old.

"Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening," a PSNI spokesman said.

Detectives today appealed for information from the public on the incident.
