A lucky Dublin couple today collected a "Christmas present" Lotto win of €6,548,759 - the highest jackpot prize so far this year.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, picked up their cheque at the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin today.

They bought the €12 multidraw ticket in David Maguire's Centra, Finglas, Dublin 11, on Saturday, December 2nd, and scooped the jackpot the following Wednesday night.

"I hope to buy a little bungalow, settle down with my partner and be happy for the rest of my life.  I will share the winnings with my family, and we look forward to a peaceful and pleasant Christmas," said the man holding the winning ticket today.

This is the highest Lotto Jackpot prize so far in 2006 since April 22nd when the jackpot reached €5,866,491, according to a spokeswoman for the National Lottery.  Two winning tickets were sold in Dublin on that occasion.
