Couple charged over €300,000 Newry drugs haul

A couple were tonight charged with drug offences following the seizure of cannabis with a street value of €300,000.

A couple were tonight charged with drug offences following the seizure of cannabis with a street value of €300,000.

The 24-year-old man and 25-year-old woman from Manchester were arrested after drugs were found in a house at Edward Street, Newry, Co Down, yesterday.

The pair have each been charged with possession of a class C drug and possession with intent to supply. They are due to appear at Banbridge Magistrates' Court in Co Down tomorrow.

Two other people who were arrested in connection with the drugs have been released pending reports, said a police spokeswoman.
