A Dublin couple have admitted attempting to obtain compensation by staging a fake car accident in 1988.

Martin O'Connell (30), Old Cabra Road, and Yvonne Godfrey (27), Deanstown Drive, Finglas, admitted at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court yesterday to conspiring together, and with others, on dates from 1988-93 to defraud Cornhill Insurance by falsely representing they were entitled to compensation for personal injuries and damages arising out of a bogus accident they alleged took place at Griffith Avenue, Dublin, on April 19th, 1988. Judge Kieran O'Connor adjourned sentence to February 19th.
