More than 200 illegally held horses were seized in Limerick city in the first nine months of this year

More than 200 illegally held horses were seized in Limerick city in the first nine months of this year. According to Limerick City Council it cost €280,000 to seize the 201 horses and remove them to the horse pound in Cork.

More than 60 of the horses were taken from Moyross, 43 from Longpavement and there were also seizures in Garryowen, St Mary’s Park, and at halting sites in Roxboro, Ballysimon and Childers Road.

There was also one seizure outside Thomond Park, the home of Munster Rugby.
