The ban on swimming at Grattan beach in Galway has been lifted

The ban on swimming at Grattan beach in Galway has been lifted. Galway City Council said at the weekend that samples taken at the beach on Friday showed E.coli levels to be well below EU mandatory permitted values.

It said that following discussions with the Health Service Executive, it had been decided to lift the ban with immediate effect.

The council said it would continue to monitor the quality of the water, and advised bathers to check the notice board where sampling results were displayed.
