Waterford County Council has supported a call for sunken fishing vessel the Pere Charlesto be raised.

Councillors yesterday voted to back the campaign by some family members, who believe there is still a possibility that some bodies could be on board.

The Dunmore East trawler sank off Hook Head two months ago, claiming the lives of all five fishermen on board.

The wreck, located three miles off Hook Head, was searched by naval divers, but no bodies were found.

The Department of Transport says no decision will be made until the Marine Casualty Investigation Board completes its report.
