A Corkman has been jailed for eight years for burglaries committed in 1991. The final three years of the sentence were suspended.

Judge Kieran O'Connor heard that Denis Foley (42), married but separated, of Churchfield Green, had originally been due to stand trial for the offences at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in 1992 but failed to appear.

He was later arrested in Portugal for drug trafficking and received a seven year sentence there.
