A 64 year old woman has died in hospital in Cork following an assault during a handbag snatch. The woman who has not yet been named died yesterday evening at the Mercy Hospital in Cork. It is believed she was assaulted at 1.0 a.m. on Sunday as she walked near her home in the city.
She admitted herself to the South Infirmary hospital at 5.0 p.m. that day and was later transferred to the Mercy Hospital. The Assistant State Pathologist, Ms Margaret Bolster, will travel to Cork today to perform a post mortem.
