Gardaí in Cork are investigating an alleged abduction and assault in the city early this morning.
It is understood that a man (30) was bundled into the boot of a car by at least four men in the Patrick Street area at around 3am.
He was able to contact family members on his mobile phone, and at 6am he reported the incident to the gardaí.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.
