Cork-Dublin trains suffer delays

Rail commuters travelling between Cork and Dublin were delayed this morning due to an engine fault on a train.

Rail commuters travelling between Cork and Dublin were delayed this morning due to an engine fault on a train.

Irish Rail said commuters were delayed by about two hours, with further delays throughout the morning.

The fault was on the 5.15am train from Kent Station, Cork, to Heuston Station in Dublin. The engine broke down between the Limerick junction and Thurles.

An Irish Rail spokesman said services were running normally by 11.30am.
