One Cool Cat makes a surprise return to the track in the Patrick P.O'Leary Memorial Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

The much-vaunted Aidan O'Brien-trained son of Storm Cat will face nine rivals in the six-furlong contest, including stablemate Grand Reward.

One Cool Cat was sent off as favourite for the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket in May only to beat one home, after which he was found to be suffering from an irregular heartbeat.

He then missed the Irish equivalent after a routine scope revealed a low-grade infection,

His racing future was thrown into doubt after he was a costly failure for odds-on backers in finishing fifth of seven in the International Stakes over a mile at the Curragh last month.

O'Brien was stunned and again One Cool Cat's heart was the subject of much concern, as it was found to be beating at 80 to the minute when it should have 120.
