The nationalist-controlled council in Cookstown, Co Tyrone last night voted nine to five in support of the Belfast Agreement. Two Ulster Unionist Party members voted against and two councillors of the same party abstained.

Magherafelt District Council in Co Derry defeated a Democratic Unionist Party motion against the agreement by nine votes to five.
