We're not sorry to see the back of ridiculous charges for sending text messages or surfing the web using our mobiles while on holiday, although we can't help wondering what took them so long. Last week, EU Telecoms commissioner Viviane Reding announced plans to force the mobile phone industry to cut roaming charges for sending text messages and data transfer by up to 60 per cent. A cap on charges for sending texts within the EU is to be set at 11 cent per message.
