The Government has confirmed it will accept the recommendations of the Constituency Commission and legislate for the changes in Dail constituency boundaries.

The Commission report earlier this month recommended no change in the number of TDs (166), but an increase by one in the number of constituencies to 42. Most of the boundary changes proposed in the legislation will be in Dublin, where there will be an increase in the number of three-seat constituencies as well as the creation of a new Dublin Mid West constituency.
