A private equity consortium said today it will not pursue an attempt to take control of British broadcaster ITV after the company rejected a revised proposal earlier in the day.

ITV shares, down about 1 per cent before the consortium's announcement, were down 5.4 per cent to 118 pence by midday.

The group comprised Apax Partners, Blackstone Group and the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs.
