Rugby:Following a second pitch inspection today's Magners League game between Connacht and European champions Leinster at the Sportsground has been called off.

The first of today’s two provincial derby games had originally been given the go ahead after a noon inspection at the Galway venue.

However, following a subsequent inspection by match referee Peter Fitzgibbon and coaches Michael Bradley and Michael Cheika at 2pm, a decision was taken to call off the match which was due to start at 4pm.

The game will be rescheduled and tickets purchased for today's game will still be valid.

In Belfast Ulster are due to host defending champions Munster and a pitch inspection was made by referee Alan Lewis this afternoon with Ulster Rugby later confirming tonight’s match will go ahead as planned at Ravenhill from 6pm.
