The third national conference on urban forestry was opened in Galway yesterday by the Minister of State for the Marine and Natural Resources, Mr Hugh Byrne.
He stressed the "vital role" that trees and woodlands play in towns and cities in enhancing the urban environment, creating recreational opportunities and employment potential.
