Moroni - President Mohamed Taki of the Comoro Islands announced yesterday he was sacking his 12-member government headed by the Prime Minister, Mr Ahmed Abdou, and the separate civil and military cabinets. Mr Taki, speaking on staterun Radio Comoros, announced the formation of a transitional government. The move followed last week's failed attempt by the military to end a secessionist revolt on Anjouan. The military cabinet had been headed by Col Hassane Harouna, who led the failed military assault on secessionist Anjouan. - (Reuter)
