Mr Geoff Palmer, a veteran member of the Communist Party of Ireland for more than 61 years, died suddenly at his Dublin home on Friday. He was 78. He was a co founder in January 1942 of the socialist bookshop New Books (now Connolly Books) in Temple Bar.
