Fresh from his barn-storming appearances with Eddie Izzard in the RDS, Barry Murphy (left) is on a bit of a roll these days. Newcomers might know him for his appearances on RTE's Apres Match but way, way back he was a founder member of local trio, Mr Trellis. Not an orthodox stand-up type, Murphy combines some cutting-edge poetry, strange stories and off-kilter impersonations to come up with a set that is coming down with originality and sparkle. A very skilled handler of an audience, you can see him in action tonight at Murphy's Laughter Lounge on Eden Quay when he performs alongside The Fast Show's John Thompson, Scottish act Lynn Thompson and David O'Doherty. The gig is a co-production with that lovely smelling after-shave, Old Spice (seriously)
