College reforms are approved

The Cabinet has approved draft legislation drawn up by the Minister for Education to reform the operation of the State's seven universities. The legislation, which will give greater autonomy to individual colleges, as well as establishing new standards of accountability, is "substantially the same" as the position paper published by the Minister for Education last November, according to a spokesperson for Ms Breathnach.
