Organisations representing hospital consultants will have to make a decision collectively on whether they are accepting new reforms to work practices, the HSE has said.

The move could set health service management on a collision course with the Irish Hospital Consultants’ Association.

The association said it would be putting the package of reforms, brokered at the Labour Relations Commission last month, to each individual member for their views. But the HSE said yesterday it would be seeking a collective decision on whether organisations accepted the reforms.
