JAKARTA - Indonesian police on the outskirts of the capital, Jakarta, plan to use poisonous cobras against "brutale rioters", a senior officer has said.
President Suharto yesterday ordered the establishment of "alert centres" to guard against unrest in the wake of a spate of religious and ethnic riots in the country.
