Co Kildare man wins play award

The main prize in the P.J. O'Connor Awards for radio drama has gone to Co Kildare playwright Nicholas Kelly

The main prize in the P.J. O'Connor Awards for radio drama has gone to Co Kildare playwright Nicholas Kelly. Mr Kelly, who is from Celbridge, wins £1,000 for his play The Black Rider, which the adjudicators described as having a strong sense of "mystery and menace" and "touches of Pirandello".

Second place in the competition went to Ronan Blaney from Lurgan, Co Armagh. Mr Blaney shared third place for another play with Kevin O'Sullivan from Whitehall, Dublin.
