Talks to avert the closure of Tipperary Crystal have concluded, with the company agreeing to accept a Labour Court formula for dealing with redundancies. ATGWU branch secretary Mr Sean Kelly welcomed the decision of the company yesterday. The company, which had threatened to close its plant in Carrick-on-Suir yesterday if the workforce did not accept a significant reduction in the Labour Court finding, has also welcomed "the resolution of this matter". There will be 29 voluntary redundancies among the 81-strong workforce.
