Washington - President Clinton said yesterday that Northwest Airlines Corp and its pilots had reached a tentative agreement to end a 13-day old strike at the nation's fourth largest carrier.

"I wanted to take the opportunity to say how delighted I am that Northwest Airlines and its pilots have reached terms that form the basis of an agreement," Mr Clinton told reporters at the White House.
